But first, why would you need to be online? Why do you need to learn how to use Instagram? Tiktok? Sounds a little scary right? Don’t worry everyone starts somewhere.
Being active online is important because then your audience can simultaneously learn about who you are as a person or a company and engage with your brand on a more personal level. Having a substantial digital presence can not only increase consumer awareness, but it can also work to strengthen your brand by building up your credibility, and you’d want them to trust you right? Here’s how:
Show Yourself! – Post a picture! Your audience will better connect with you when they can see that you’re a real person! You don’t need to go and get professional photos taken unless that is what you want, but just a simple shot of you smiling against a plain background will show your viewers that you are friendly and approachable.
Brand your name – Well, for starters, you introduce yourself with your name before anyone gets to know you right? Use it for all your social media handles and keep it similar, also buy the domain. If you have a common name and that domain is taken, try adding “THE” or “THELIFEOF” to add a little flair but also keep your name in it.
Be yourself – This already goes without saying but being transparent is what makes your audience relate more to you and will be more likely to listen to what you have to say, or any advice you have or tips you’d like to share in the future. People are pretty good at seeing through when you’re being fake, so keep it real. Be natural.
Know your stuff – I don’t mean be an expert at everything, I mean know what it is you are selling, whether it’s real estate, used cars, or just a hand made goods shop, if someone has a question, you should be able to be knowledgable and helpful to them.
